Description

Hundreds of plan sold, with a very high percentage of completed constructions and unexpected qualities of ve rsatility, governability and speed, have decreed the success of this small, simple but extraordinary sailing boat:
The Argie 15 has been designed to be a comfortable and safe sailing dinghy for coast sailing  and nautical camping. It is essentially a 3 in 1 boat, to be used for sailing, rowing or with a small outboard.

The Argie 15 "Magia", built in Venice by Gianni Trevisanello

The Argie 15 has another very important feature: thanks to the simplicity of the construction method and the rationality of its design, its construction is within the reach of many people, even non-experts: the first experience of self-construction, an instructive "pastime" for father and son, didactic work for middle and professional schools, sports, cultural and recreational clubs etc.

For the more experienced, the Argie 15 standard design is an extraordinary basis for making excellent customizations:

Three different interpretations of the deck layout

like a racer, inspired by 420

with canting drift and a refined wood finish

with lockers in the bow and on the benches, for nautical camping

In fact, it has been designed to take full advantage of the use of marine plywood both in the construction, for DIY enthusiasts, and in the lightness and strength of this material that allow easy management of the boat in all conditions of use .

In the development of the standard plans, the boat will be made from 8 sheets of marine plywood (Okoumè 6mm). With the construction kit all the sheets (2500x1220mm) will arrive with the pre-cut shapes, joined to the sheet by small notches of about 10mm which can be removed with a simple jigsaw

The "Stitch & Glue" method eliminates many frames normally used in the construction of wooden boats and allows to create a light but very resistant structure. The weight of the bare hull, unarmed and without additions and accessories, is about 60 kg.

On average, depending on the modifications made, the fully armed and equipped Argie can reach a weight of 100-120 kg, easily towable with a small road trail.

Thanks to its successful water lines and despite its robust and peaceful boat appearance, the Argie 15 has revealed unexpected nautical qualities, with easy gliding starting from the great slack and the ability to hold the wind upwind well, reaching excellent speed at every reach.

The large volumes of the hull, the shape stability and a general balance of the boat allow you to use different ones: solo, with two-four-person equipment, for sports sailing, for fishing or for a minimal and essential camping - cruiser .

The mast, sails and deck equipment reflect the whole philosophy of the standard design, based on maximum simplicity and on countless possibilities of options.

But the Argie 15 does not cease to amaze: for those who are not interested in sailing, it can also be built as a simple lance with an outboard engine.
